NEW EDUCATION POLICY 2020
The Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) will be set up as a single overarching umbrella body for the entire higher education, excluding medical and legal education.
Improvements in higher education Higher education will now offer multiple entry and exit options.  Those who do the five-year integrated course will not have to do MPhil.  Colleges will be given autonomy to accreditation.  There will be a single regulator for higher education.  Currently UGC, AICTE is involved.  However, this will include legal and medical education. The standard of education for public and private universities will remain the same.  A National Research Foundation (NRF) will be established to promote research and innovation.  In addition, education in PWD will be promoted through technology.  E-courses will be developed in eight major regional languages.  The National Educational Technology Forum (NETF) will be established.
Earlier, the HRD ministry had said that the National Education Policy was formulated in 1986 and revised in 1992.  Today, more than three decades have passed since the formulation of education policy.  A new education policy is needed in view of the change.  School Education Reform Curriculum for Early Childhood Care & Education will be prepared by NCERT.  It will be designed for children from 3 to 6 years.  The National Mission on Foundation Literacy & Numerism for Basic Education (for 6 to 9 years) will be launched.  The outline of the study will be prepared on the basis of 5 + 3 + 3 + 4.  In which final 4 years Std.9 to 12 are involved.  Special activities will be included in the main curriculum.  Special provision has been made for gifted children.  Vacational will be added only after class 6.  A new national curriculum framework will be developed that will include ECE, schools, teachers and adult education.
Life skills will be added to the children's report card.  Education for all children will be ensured by the year 2030.  On the other hand, a single common entrance exam will be taken for admission in higher education institutions.
