Recruitment exercise has been started in the Panchayat Department of Gujarat State after a long time. There are about 16600 vacancies in the district and taluka panchayat structure out of which administrative process is underway to fill 13000 vacancies.

This job is waiting for you - after the state government took over the power of recruitment of class-3 from 33 district panchayats of the state, now this power has been handed over to the Panchayat Selection Board. The new state government has given priority to recruitment in the panchayat department and has also included it in the 100-day action plan after widespread complaints that work in the panchayat departments was deteriorating due to lack of staff.
Sources in the panchayat department said that after the government's green light, a proposal for recruitment of 13,000 employees of 15 cadres has been sent to the finance department.
Vacancies including Junior Clerk, Talati, Extension Officer, Accountant will be filled. Class-1 and Class-2 are recruited by GPSC. Meanwhile, the recruitment of Patawalas in Class-III in Panchayats has been stopped. Patawalas have not been recruited for years.
